The first time I spoke with Genevieve and Andrew I just knew. That may sound cliche. It may sound like a line from a movie. Or sappy romance novel. But it’s true. I knew that they were head over heels in love with each other. The perfect match. Soul mates. And I knew that their elopement wedding was going to be something special. Something to be remembered. And full of love.
As we wandered around the streets of Paris, we stopped along the way. Often for a photo location that inspired us. Often because tourists wanted to take a photo (or a very long video) with the bride and groom. Even strangers from all around the world wanted to be part of Genevieve and Andrew’s world, if only for a minute. Their smiles and love were so contagious. And you couldn’t help but be happy yourself watching them together. Their love is real.
That night after the wedding Ewan and I sat on a bench (exhausted) and watched the people go by. Children chasing after each other. Couples who have been married for 50 years still holding hands. Newly weds staring into each others’ eyes, oblivious to anything around them. And Ewan asked me, “what do you think it is that makes Paris so romantic”. I wondered for a minute. Was the it history? No. The architecture? No. The big open sky filled with a million stars? Maybe. But finally the answer came to me. It’s the people. The entire time we were there we didn’t encounter a single grumpy person. No angered servers. Or fighting spouses. They were all just so happy. It was the place of love. And the people were love. And we feel so thankful to have been given the opportunity to capture Genevieve and Andrew’s love to share here with you….
