I have a bad habit. Okay, I have a lot of bad habits. But there’s on in particular that drives Ewan mad. Batty. Up the wall. Crazy. When we’re watching a movie he’ll prepare a snack. He’ll ask very politely what I’d like to eat and I say, ‘nothing thanks, I’m not hungry’. Without fail I’ll tell him that I don’t need anything. So he’ll fix himself a nice little treat. And without fail the minute he sits down I’ll look at it. And suddenly be hungry. Then Ewan gives me the look of I told you so and points to the half of the plate he made for me. Just in case. Because I have a bad habit.
Ashley and Devin have a love of food. A major crush. They’re smitten with it. They love to watch the Food Network and spend date nights watching Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. As they sit there curled up together they try to create the dream dish. Spaghetti and meatballs with just a hint of parsley. Lots of garlic. And a touch of Parmesan. Or a 7 layer sandwich stacked high with 7 different kinds of cheese. Or something along those lines. By the end of the show they’ve day dreamed about a master food that could win any fine dining contest in the world. And inevitably they’re hungry.
So off Devin heads to the kitchen to prepare a snack. He makes sure to ask first : “Ashely are you hungry?” And every single time she replies no. Definitely not. But Devin knows his wife. He knows her habit. He knows better. So he creates the best snack he can possibly imagine and makes sure to prepare two portions. Just in case. Because he knows the minute Ashley sees the plate she’ll ask for just one little bite. But he doesn’t mind one bit at all. It’s a habit he loves.
