The day had been flawless. Exactly as they had always pictured it. Their closest friends and family were all there as she walked down the aisle. Mike smiled as soon as he saw her. Lindsay’s father beamed from ear to ear. And sniffles could be heard all around them. They truly were the perfect match. And everyone in the Church that day knew it in their hearts. Lindsay and Mike were meant to be husband and wife.
They held it together during the day, even though tears made little appearances. They made it through their vows. They made it through their speeches. They made it through their first dance. But at the end of the night as they stood in their hotel room it really hit Lindsay and Mike. They were married. As Lindsay looked over at Mike, there were tears in his eyes. As they rolled down his cheeks like raindrops, he walked up close to her. He took her face in his hands and stared into her beautiful eyes. And then he smiled and said three tiny words that summed everything he felt in that moment. Three words he’d been waiting to say since he first laid eyes on her. He gently held her face and whispered, “You’re my wife”.
