As they shuffled through customs, he broke into a sweat. He panicked. They were definitely going to find the ring stashed in his bag and his whole plan would be foiled. His palms became sweaty, his voice hoarse and he was certain that the entire world knew about the treasure stashed safely between his socks and map of Paris.
After making it through customs unscathed, Jason insisted that he didn’t want to put his carry-on bag in the overhead compartment. It would be safer with him. Wedged tightly between his legs and the seat in front of him. It didn’t matter that he was 6′3 or that he was slowly losing circulation in his toes from the heavy bag. There was no way he was going to let it out of his site. And eventually when he no longer had a choice, he choked with panic anytime someone else went up there.
Walking the streets of Paris for two days, Beth had no clue that Jason had such an important question to ask. Or that he was carrying a diamond ring in his pocket waiting for just the right moment. At 10pm on Sunday evening, they sat down to dinner at the perfect restaurant. With dozens of tables, it seemed bad luck that the table right beside them ordered one coffee after another and were in no hurry to leave. After a lengthy meal and the perfect dessert, they were finally the only ones left in the restaurant. Alone, Jason leaned in close and asked Beth what she was doing for the next sixty years or so….
Beth and Jason, your story makes my heart skip a beat. I love that Jason carried the ring around waiting for the last possible, perfect moment. You two are about as sweet as it gets and I don’t know if we’ve ever had a bride laugh quite as much as you did on the wedding day. Your love of life was infectious. Thank you so much for including us in your celebration and we hope you enjoyed your honeymoon back to Paris again.
And at least on your way back through customs you no longer had to hide the ring :)
