Right from the beginning, loving each other was easy…
They shared a mutual friend. Who very insistently assured them both that they’d be a perfect match for each other. Not interested in a relationship, Candace and Julio both pushed aside the friend’s requests. Over and over again. Finally Julio decided to say yes because he had nothing to lose. And Candace finally said yes just to get her friend off her back. Neither of them thought it would lead anywhere.
The blind date was set. They reluctantly showed up just to please their friend, but were both pleasantly surprised. They played air hockey. Julio won. And they watched Wedding Crashers. They laughed the entire time. By the end of the date they were both intrigued. Hooked. And wanted to get to know the other person more. They got to know each other over 4 hour phone conversations. And slowly fell harder and harder for each other. There were never any silly dating games. If they wanted to spend time together, they did. If they wanted to call the other person, they did. If they wanted to share how they were feeling, they were honest and open. Candace and Julio had no expectations of the other person, yet every single time they exceeded them. And with not a single thing in common, they found things to learn to enjoy together. Right from the beginning, loving each other was easy. And that’s the best kind of love.
Candace and Julio, watching you two together it’s so obvious that you are each others’ best friends. You believe in love. True love. And wear your hearts on your sleeves. Whether you’re traveling the world or just sitting at home, you’re having a great time together. You’re happy to just be together no matter where you are. And it makes me smile thinking of you celebrating your 60th wedding anniversary together some day. We’ll see you Saturday :)
