THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE BLOG – 35 (OUR LIFE)…

Ah, Sunday…you make me so happy. Happier than chocolate. And that’s saying something!

1. If you only click on links on our blog once this entire year, please click on these ones. As the decade is coming to an end, some of the most news-worthy photos have been put together in a collection remembering events from 2000-2009. Some photos made me smile. Some photos made me tear up. Some photos made me angry. It’s an amazing collection and most definitely worth looking through. Fair warning : Some shots are graphic and not suitable for children. Let me know what you think below. I found myself both hopeful and worried for what this collection will be like at the end of 2019. Set one, two and three. P.s. These are NOT our images. (The blog).

2. It’s been a rough month at the Phelan house. Eye problems, MRI’s, cat scans, the flu, croup, croup again, a thrown out back, the flu again. I’m pretty certain the plague is coming next. I have always ranked health as one of the most important things in life and this month I’ve been reminded about how easily it can be taken away. Here’s to wishing all of our friends, family and blog readers a healthy year in 2010! (The good).

3. If you just read the above one, you may have guessed that sleep has been lacking too. After a night of Sarah Elizabeth being up from midnight onward with croup and chasing Ewan around sleep walking, I was beyond exhausted. I had to drop Ewan off at an appointment the next morning and run some errands. But I was so tired that after I ran my errand I forgot to go pick Ewan back up from his appointment and just drove home. As I sat in the lane way I knew I was supposed to be somewhere else, but it took a whole 60 seconds to register where. Then I started driving again and drove right past the building Ewan was in. Twice. As soon as we got home I went and had a very long nap! (The bad).

3. We had a huge turkey dinner on Monday and Ewan and I dueled the wish bone the next day. It split completely even down the middle. I’ve never had this happen before and was dorkily excited about it and had to share. Yes, yes you can make fun of me now! (The very good).

4. Have you ever gone to a movie that was so bad that you wanted to walk out after the first ten minutes? Last night Ewan and I went on a date and asked our facebook and twitter friends to vote on what we should go see – New Moon or Invictus. You can likely guess which one I was pulling for. Sadly, I lost and we ended up suffering through one of the worst movies we’ve ever been to. I would never normally review a movie on the blog, but just had to rub it in Ewan’s face that he owes me!!!! (The very bad).

5. After Ewan and Sarah Elizabeth’s birthday this month and 8 days of presents, I’ve come to the conclusion that children under 3 are equally entertained with the gift and the empty box! (The good and the bad).

6. With the Dexter season finale last week, I’m finding myself in withdrawl tonight without my secret boyfriend. If you’re looking for something to watch while regular TV is on hiatus during the holidays, you won’t be disappointed if you pick up the first seasons of Dexter. Michael C. Hall is genius in the role and the show is constantly amazing me. I know it’s wrong to be cheering for a serial killer, but I know I’m not alone in loving this bad boy/murderer/father/kick-ass-guy. (The very good).

Make sure to check out the links on number one if you get a chance, but here are a few of my favourite to give you a taste. Happy Sunday (I hope it’s been better than chocolate for you!)

heather m. - I hope some healthiness finds its way the Phelan home in 2010. Sorry you were all so sick the last month, but maybe it’s our of your systems now and you can focus on better things in the New Year!

Eileen Broderick - Whoa. Speechless. Some incredible and moving images there. Some I wish I didn’t have to see but they are so important to look at. Sure makes the image of Paris Hilton seem like a complete joke given the gravity of what else is going on all over the world. We sure are fortunate for the freedoms and safety we enjoy…Thanks for sharing.

Becki’o - Wow those photos were really something else and it was moving to look through them all. I agree with you that I wonder what the photos will be like a decade from now too. The ones after the hurricanes are really moving.

Amanda and Justin - Happy Sunday to the Phelan household!
