I’m a quiet kind of girl. I like quiet sentiments. Quiet gestures. Quiet moments. When Ewan proposed to me it was in my new apartment with no one around. It was simple. It wasn’t flashy or showy. It was quiet. It was us…
After five years of dating, conversations were more and more frequently turning to kids and marriage. But every time Jocelyn brought up the ‘m’ word Darcy teased that he was going to add another month until asking her just to make her wait. Just to watch her squirm. Just to watch her bubble over with excitement. And every so often he’d pretend to pull out a ring and say he was ready to ask her, only to be following with a ‘just kidding’ and them both laughing together. Jocelyn knew a proposal was coming, but had no clue when.
On a regular Saturday night Darcy told Jocelyn that tomorrow was the day. Tomorrow he would propose. Tomorrow he would ask her to be his wife. But after months of joking around, she just brushed it off and went to bed. Little did she know that Darcy had been trying to throw her off for months and had been waiting for an opportunity just like this. The next morning when Jocelyn woke up, Nelson the dog was laying beside her. Being a huge German Shepherd he was taking up a bit more than his share of the bed. As she rolled over for a snuggle there was a surprise waiting for her. A smiling Darcy and a ring. And the question that had been asked many times before, but this time it was for real. It was on a quiet Sunday morning. It was just the two of them in their home. It wasn’t flashy or showy and it was exactly the way they had both always pictured it. It was them.
