CASSANDRA AND PATRICK – THE DAY…(photos by ewan)

Sometimes you don’t need everything to be perfect. You just need it to be…

She had the entire thing organized. Cross referenced. Colour coded. And perfectly planned. Cassandra hired a wedding co-ordinator to make sure that every single detail of her wedding day was exactly as she had always pictured. There were 3D perspective sketches, details on the specific model of chairs she wanted used and instructions on how to fold the napkins. Even the floor plan had been meticulously laid out. Cassandra wanted everything to be absolutely perfect.

She worried about it in the months leading up to the big day. Her mom even teased her about trying to coordinate the wedding co-ordinator. But as the wedding began to get closer she started to realize that she did still want a perfect wedding day, but it was suddenly less important. She knew it was going to be great and that things probably would go wrong at some point. This would usually set her into a panic, but when it came to the wedding she knew it didn’t matter. The important thing was that her and Patrick were in love, were getting married and were going to spend the rest of their lives together. If the napkins weren’t folded exactly right, she knew that everything would still be okay.

And on the wedding day especially, Cassandra knew that it didn’t matter if everything went exactly as planned. While entering the marina, the gate closed too quickly and smashed the limo window next to where she was sitting. But she just laughed it off, brushed away the glass and went on her way. And it rained. A whole lot of rain. But she put a smile on her face and took photos on her parent’s yacht because boating was such a big part of her life and memories of growing up. A little downpour wasn’t going to stop her. These things made her day imperfect. But Cassandra and Patrick both laughed that the day was like their relationship : so imperfect that it’s perfect. They didn’t need the day to run flawlessly because it was perfect no matter what, as long as they had each other.
