It’s usually the perspective of the bride. When I ask how the wedding day went I usually get an email back a few minutes later from the bride gushing about the great meal, the fun dancing and the beautiful table settings. They are always eager to share all of the details. But recently I was pleasantly surprised when the response came back from one of our grooms. Arek had shared everything with me from start to finish about how the day had played out. And it was really sweet to get the groom’s perspective on how he felt throughout the day…
After twelve months of planning, dozens of appointments and a few glitches, the day had finally arrived. The sun was shining. The air was warm and he was ready. Arek had spent the night before the wedding at his parent’s house and Paulina with hers. As he stood in front of his parents that morning they blessed him. They wished him love and happiness in his marriage and sent him on his way. Was he nervous? No. Was he excited? Yes. He knew he had the perfect girl and was anxious to see her. No cold feet. Just joy.
When he reached the Church he waited. As Paulina’s limo pulled up he knew that this was it. The door opened and there she was. His beautiful bride. They hugged and kissed and had a private moment. It was exactly as he had always pictured it. Following an old Polish tradition they then walked into the Church together. Paulina’s father blessed them both and then they walked together hand-in-hand to the alter. Nervous that he would forget his vows, Arek found himself temporarily nervous. But as soon as he got the words out he was able to relax again. And as he looked around at his closest friends and family he was overcome with a feeling of love in the room. He was so thankful to be surrounded by people who loved and cared about them both so much. And as he held his wife’s hand he knew that everything about the day had been as he had always hoped. And with the girl he had always dreamed about.
