They had known each other since high school. They crossed paths in the hallways. They stood in the same line at the cafeteria. They even hung out with the same group of friends. But they had never made any sort of connection further than a simple ‘hello’. Wait. Except for that one time that Melissa went out for Valentine’s Day with her friend, her friend’s boyfriend and Neil. Which Neil doesn’t remember that a) he went to and b) it was with Melissa. Clearly first impressions hadn’t stuck.
As time passed they started to get to know each other a little bit more. They started casually hanging out as friends and spending time together. Neil was always the gentleman. Opening doors, pulling out chairs and pouring her wine first. One Winter night they found themselves at the Village Cafe for dinner. When they pulled up to the restaurant, Melissa sat in the car for a minute, like she always did, as Neil would normally rush over to open the door. But this night he didn’t. He got out of the car and just stood there. So as Melissa opened the door on her own, she was then met with the snowbank only a few inches away. In her four inch heels she hobbled out of the car trying to a) not get wet and b) not fall. And as she looked across at Neil waiting for her, she saw something different that night. She didn’t just see her friend. She saw something more. She saw the man she wanted to be with. And a smile broke across her face as she realized that the one time Neil wasn’t a gentleman was the time she realized that she was in love…
Neil and Melissa, right from the get-go we’ve had a blast working with you. From super cool sweaters, to hawks flying at our heads during engagement photos, there hasn’t been a single dull minute. Thank you so much for inviting us to share in your wedding day and we can’t wait to see the two of you again soon.
