Oh Sunday, you make me so happy. It’s too bad you only stop by once a week….
1. We had a year end staff party for our full timers last night and had an awesome time. We just wanted to say thanks to our incredible team who help to make Last Forty Percent what it is. We couldn’t do it without you and we love you guys! (The very very good).
2. You might remember my embarrassing coat moment last week. Last night was round two with said coat. I had been annoyed all evening that something kept itching my neck and was scratching me. But every time I looked there was nothing there. Finally well well well into the evening I looked again and there hanging out of my coat in plain sight was the price tag. Still attached and displaying the price for the whole world to see. None of us had noticed it (or they were secretly just not telling me) but I had been walking around the entire night with the price tag hanging out the neck of my coat down my back. (The very bad).
3. Rachel likes to play with Little People and gives them all names. The other day she was sorting them into piles and was setting up our little family. She set up the doll who looks like her. The one who looks like Sarah Elizabeth. The one who looks like me and a sheep and a horse stood in for our cats. She then very carefully looked over the remaining dolls and then picked the man with the balding head and big belly. When I asked her who it was she said that it was Toti (her name for Ewan). When I asked her why she chose that doll, she looked at me and very matter of factly said, “Because Toti’s a big guy”! (The sweetly good).
4. It’s not a secret that Ewan has a larger-than-normal head. It’s a Phelan thing (loooovveee you baby). The other day he was looking for a new hat and was having trouble finding one that fit. I was teasing him about his giant head and forgot that our perceptive nearly three year old picks up on everything. So I wasn’t overly surprised when she told someone the next day : “You have a pretty head. It’s not big like Toti’s”. (The awkwardly bad).
5. It’s also no secret that Sarah Elizabeth loves our cats. She’s never more than a foot away from them and likes to be in on all of the action. On Monday I gave the cats some treats without thinking too much about the fact that Sarah was on the floor playing with them. In the twenty seconds it took for me to turn my back, close the treat bag and put it back in the cupboard she was already on the move. I turned back around to see her sitting there with an enormous smile on her face. And the cat treats jammed in her mouth. Apparently it really is authentic turkey flavour because she was quite convinced that they were food for her. (The oh, so sweetly good).
6. A few little things : It’s Sarah Elizabeth’s first birthday next week, so keep an eye out for her ‘year in review‘ post in the near future. Make sure to check out the details for the “Hot Mom’s for Charity” calendar release party this Thursday. And the sweet little face from last week’s post is Sarah Elizabeth. Thanks to everyone who guessed :) (The blog).
