As he walked up and down the aisles, Neil knew he was out of his element. The shelves were filled with jars of paint, stacks of paper and bottles of glitter. The craft section wasn’t really his thing, but he had the perfect proposal in mind. And glitter was a requirement…
Sitting at the dining room table he knew exactly how he wanted things to play out. Neil cut a giant heart from the paper and started to decorate. And in giant letters he wrote the words : “Erin will you marry me”. As he packed the sign in his carry-on he also tucked the ring safely inside his pants pocket and headed off to board his plane. The entire flight he was anxious. Impatient. Excited to ask Erin to be his wife. Neil kept thinking about walking out of customs holding the sign. Amongst all the people, armed with the cardboard heart and prepared with a very important question. But the minute he walked off the plane there were people everywhere. Completely surrounding him. Too many for comfort. And he got nervous. So as he clutched the heart close to his chest, he waited for a more private moment. And when they reached the parking lot he knew that this was the right time. Without an audience, Neil took Erin’s hand in his and told her that she meant everything to him. That he wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. That she was worth more than a million paper hearts and glitter could ever explain…
Erin and Neil, sometimes it’s funny how life gives you an opportunity to re-connect with people and we’re so glad that we got to share in this experience with you. Erin, I know you and Ewan worked together in University, but lost touch when life headed in different directions. So when we first heard from you when you got engaged we were so happy to re-connect. And were so happy to get to know Neil too. Congratulations again to both of you and we hope that we’ll be able to share in many more experiences with you in the future :)
