MADELEINE AND JEREMY – THE QUESTION…(photo by ewan)

It was an ambush. With leave in conditioner in her hair and wearing a hat, Madeleine wasn’t expecting to run into the man of her dreams. So when a mutual friend asked her to stop by for a visit at work she headed right over. The next thing she knew Jeremy had been invited along to meet them at a restaurant. Madeleine wasn’t looking to be swept off her feet, so didn’t think too much about being joined by someone else.

She wasn’t interested in being swooned. She was tired of all that. Flowers, chocolate and awkward dates weren’t even on her radar. Madeleine was looking for a real man. A solid partner. A man with his feet on the ground. When Jeremy arrived at the restaurant it was instant. They hit it off. They clicked. While chocolates and flowers were nice, this is what she had always longed for. They were the perfect balance and their relationship was solid from the first minute they met.

As the years moved forward things may not have followed the conventional method. Things may not have been textbook. But the path was perfect for Madeleine and Jeremy and two babies have shared along in the journey with them. And when Jeremy gives her two hours to wake up in the morning or something sweet to eat to ease her out of a bad mood, Madeleine knows that although she hadn’t been looking that day, Jeremy is everything she had always been searching for. Sometimes the things you aren’t looking for end up being the best finds of all :)

ADAM AND LAURA – THE DAY…(photos by yaira)

She hated surprises. Loathed them. Did whatever she could to figure them out. But one day Adam caught her off guard with one surprise she hadn’t seen coming…and one that she loved…

In the weeks leading up to the holidays, Laura would stare at her present and try to guess what was inside. She kept joking to Adam that one day she was just going to go ahead and open it because she hated the anticipation of waiting. And every time Adam smiled and said ‘okay’ knowing that she wouldn’t really do it. But she kept insisting, kept poking and kept trying to guess. Until one day she just did it. Inside the beautifully wrapped box was a digital camera and she was so happy. Both for the beautiful gift and for the fact that it was no longer a surprise.

After their big family dinner Adam said he needed to go for a walk to work off some of the turkey. As they strolled through Victoria Park, he apologized that there wasn’t another gift for her to open and that he was sorry there were no more surprises. But Laura just laughed and said she was glad because after all, she hated surprises. And then he did something she hadn’t expected at all. Getting down on one knee Adam said : “actually I do have one more surprise” as he pulled the ring from his pocket. Suddenly there were screams. Screams so loud that people in the park came running over to make sure she was okay. When they discovered that the screams were Laura jumping up and down with excitement they started clapping and sharing in on the excitement. Before that day Laura had always hated surprises, but in that moment she knew that this had been the best surprise of all :)

KRISTIN AND LAWRENCE – THE DAY…(photos by ewan)

She gets nervous easily. Playing the organ at family functions as a child made her break out into a sweat. She sometimes contemplated running away and hiding. And sometimes had to fight the need to throw up. Being in front of large groups of people just wasn’t her thing…

Kristin had always gotten nervous before big events. For as long as she could remember she would get slightly terrified before stepping foot on stage, to the front of the classroom or being surrounded by people. If she was in a friend’s wedding party she froze. And she couldn’t even say a speech at her mom’s 50th birthday party because her nerves got the best of her. In the weeks before their wedding, Kristin and Lawrence had learned a ballroom dance to perform for their guests. But Kristin was pretty certain it wouldn’t happen. She was convinced that A) She’d trip on her dress and ruin it or B) She’d throw up in the middle of the dance floor. In the days leading up to the wedding she was less than calm.

But on that sunny afternoon she felt something very different. She felt Relaxed. Not nervous at all. As she walked down the aisle it was as if time froze. She didn’t notice the crowd of people surrounding her. She only noticed Lawrence. All those times before that she had been nervous she had been alone. There was no one standing beside her to hold her hand. But on this day as she reached the end of the aisle, Lawrence took her hands in his. And standing there together in front of their friends and family just felt right. Lawrence had given her the strength to get through that moment. He had given her the strength to get through anything.

LISA AND SHAWN – THE DAY…(photos by ewan)

In the end all that mattered was that he got the girl…

He professed his love for her. Right then and there and he told her that he loved her. It didn’t matter that she had a boyfriend. Or that said boyfriend happened to be there too. Shawn just had to tell the whole world that he loved Lisa. Alas, she had a boyfriend and his speech hadn’t gone quite as planned. But Lisa couldn’t stop thinking about Shawn and wondering if they really were meant to be. And so they were. And in the end, Shawn got the girl…

Shawn knew that this was the day. Tonight was the night he was going to ask Lisa to spend the rest of her life with him. Except things hadn’t gone exactly as planned. Every day when Lisa came home their cat Blue ran to cuddle with her. Without fail. Like clockwork. He had planned to tie the ring around Blue’s collar so that when he ran up for his daily cuddle the ring would be waiting patiently for her to find. No such luck. Blue wouldn’t come out. Wouldn’t budge. Wasn’t interested in having jewelry tied to his collar. This wasn’t how Shawn pictured things happening. But in the end it didn’t matter how he proposed. It didn’t matter if it was fancy or wildly romantic or just simple and honest. All the mattered was that she said yes and they loved each other. In the end all that mattered was that he got the girl…
