VERONICA’S SNEAK PEEK – THE NIGHT…(photos by ewan)

We’re bad at surprises. Okay, horrible at surprises. Horrible with a capital H. Always have been. Every year since I have known Ewan we have always celebrated our birthday the day before our actual birthday. He was born on December 9th, but we start celebrating well before then. If we even make it into December, we’re doing better than we thought we would. It’s our curse.

The reason that we celebrate everything early is that we can’t keep anything a surprise. We have to let the other know what we bought for them and can’t wait to see if they like it or not. And the longer we’ve known each other, the worse it gets. Ewan had to hide Rachel’s birthday presents from me this year so that I didn’t give them to her a week early. It’s hard to admit, but I’ve also been known to give Ewan his Father’s Day gift a whole 3 weeks before the actual date. BUT this year I WIN! Ewan bought my birthday present in January and gave it to me the next day. My birthday is actually at the end of May. He now holds the record of giving me a gift a whole four months before my birthday.

Then again, who am I to complain? He knows I hate surprises and secretly love ripping apart the wrapping paper to see what’s hiding inside. The fun thing is that he will probably just buy me another present around my actual birthday, so it’s really a win, win for me!

So, even though I hate surprises, I have to be cruel and can only give you a sneak peek from this boudoir session – please don’t hate me! Veronica is surprising her new husband with these photos on their wedding night which isn’t until June, so I can’t ruin the surprise for him, as much as it kills me. Here’s a little preview with more to follow after their wedding…

JOHN AND JODI – THE QUESTION…

The office has been a little bit quieter than normal the last few months. It hasn’t smelled like freshly baked custard tarts and there have been fewer arguments about whether The Big Lebowski is the greatest movie of all time or if all copies should be burned and forgotten about. Yaira may have been out of the office on maternity leave, but I still managed to call her 4 times a day and keep up to date on how little Diego is doing. And while I know she’s loved every minute at home being a mom, I can tell she’s super excited to be out shooting again and back into the world of weddings too. We’ve missed you, Yaira and I look forward to having you back in the office. And I look forward to stuffing my face with custard tarts too!

John and Jodi’s story to follow soon….

JEN AND WES (A SNEAK PEEK) – THE DAY…

He holds her hand when they walk together. She smiles when he walks back into the room. And she pulls him a little bit closer when he kisses her. Jen and Wes are a couple who love each other and a couple that you just can’t help but love yourself. It’s infectious. They make me want to hold hands with Ewan and hold him a little bit tighter. Their love makes me love to love!

Here’s a sneak peek at a photo from the series we shot at UWO with them. More to come soon, more to come soon!

THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE BLOG (9) – OUR LIFE…

On Monday mornings I sometimes think to myself that there is no possible way that enough exciting things will happen to write another one of these posts the following week. And then I remember who our children are and realize that there is never a dull moment around here. You’ll notice that these all have to do with Rachel this week….but then again, if you’ve been reading our blog for awhile now, you’ll know that this only 1/10th of the entertainment she provided this week…

1. Rachel looked at me with the sweetest little eyes and said, “Mommy ride the horsey, please” while out today. Unable to resist those baby blues and her drawn out puuuulllleeease, I promised that she could ride the horsey-ride as soon as we were finished with the grocery shopping. She reminded me multiple times on our shopping adventure, but was always polite, although bursting with excitement. So, at the end of our trip we found ourselves standing in front of the horse and she panicked with fear. Froze and backed away from the 4 foot high neighing animal. I offered to ride “Mr. Horse” with her, but that just wasn’t going to cut it in her books. Thank you to all of the people who stopped to watch today as I had to ride the $1.00/ride mechanical horse BY MYSELF to prove to Rachel that it was safe. Yes, I love my children and will do anything for them, but I think this one takes the cake for embarrassing mommy moment #376. (The embarrassingly good).

2. Dear Lip Smackers : The chocolate chip cookie dough chap stick that you have invented smells exactly like a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie. Thank you for making your chap stick so realistic smelling that our 2 year old ate the entire tube. Her breath still smells like cookies. (The bad).

3. I thought last week we learned what the worst possible thing we could find is in our bed was. I was wrong. When we crawled into bed the other night, Ewan suddenly jumped up screaming, “WHAT IS IN OUR BED!?” Rachel’s disappearing snack was nestled safely in between our sheets waiting for us. Ewan had laid down on a squishy, mushy, squashed banana and squished it even more into the sheets. I was sobbing I was laughing so hard trying to scrape banana off his back and strip the sheets from the bed. I swear this child is faster than lightning because she’s never out of our site for more than 5 seconds at a time. I’m pretty sure she’s going to be a magician when she grows up! (The bad).

4. We had our final meeting on Thursday to finalize all of the details for one of our super fun surprises….coming soon, coming soon….oh yay….(The blog).

5. Our cat is white. On Wednesday he became pink. Yes, our cat became pink thanks for Rachel. And not just a little bit pink, but bright neon pink that smelled like cotton candy. She likes to hug “Salty” the cat and we never think twice about it. So, when the babysitter saw her doling out a hug, she just assumed it was a regular hug and smiled at the sweet affection. Until she realized that Rachel was actually forcefully holding Salty down and colouring on him with hot pink. I have to hand it to our cat, he didn’t even flinch, meow or cower away from her, but just sat there and let himself be decorated. Bathing him was a whole other story…. (The so funny that it’s good).

Happy Sunday!
