100 THINGS (YAIRA) – OUR LIFE…

Yaira, Yaira, Yaira – how do I start to tell the world about Yaira. She’s 100 things I wish I was and I admire her more than she probably knows. She travels the world, has a baby who sleeps through the night (must be spectacular) and has a beautiful eye for photography. It’s true that she loses things easily, is horrible with remembering names and her name sounds nothing like it looks, but we still love her.

Yaira is one of our associate photographers and we are so lucky to have her as part of our team. She loves what she does, loves her clients and brings lots of fun and excitement into the office every day (and tarts and cookies too). She’s a great mom and our kids love her too!

So, to help you get to know a little bit more about Yaira, here are her ‘100 things’.

ERICA AND MATTHEW – THE DAY…

There was something about him that made her smile. Maybe it was the soft, innocent way he looked away whenever they made eye contact. Or maybe it was the way he blushed the first time his hand accidentally brushed against hers. Maybe it was even the way he touched her face so gently before he kissed her for the first time. Whatever it was, she was hooked. Done for. Head over heels in love. He was all that she had dreamed of and more.

And he knew from the very first minute he met her that she was the woman he would marry. He already loved her with everything he had.

Erica and Matthew, there is no hiding how much you love each other. It’s so beautiful and open to the world. I can’t express to you enough how much we enjoyed working with you. From the very first time we met you, we felt like we were spending time with old friends. I think you were one of our first couples to ever meet Rachel, too. Even she loved you!

To our blog followers, Matthew is the member of the very talented band, Article One. If you’re looking for some new music, make sure to check out their website and listen to some of the songs from their new album, “Colours and Sounds”. And I know we have a lot of readers from the US, so don’t forget to check out their tour schedule to see if they’re passing through your area, too.

Erica and Matthew, congratulations again and thank you so much for inviting us to be part of your wedding day. I’m more than a little bit jealous that you’re escaping all of this snow right now and we hope that we’ll cross paths again if you ever find yourselves back in Canada again. And Erica, I’ve never seen a bride work a pair of cowboy boots like you did that day!

- Brianna (photos by Ewan)

P.s. I wanted to post a full wedding, so that couples could see all of the aspects of the day, however our blog program doesn’t want to let me. So, I’m posting about 80 photos to give you an idea of the different things that we cover on a wedding day. I’ve left out the family photos for privacy reasons, but tried to incorporate as many parts of the day as possible. Happy Friday!

Real Wedding: Erica and Matthew « - [...] Real Wedding: Erica and Matthew Jump to Comments Hello, hello! I am very honored to share this beautiful wedding with you today. Photographer Ewan Phelan of The Last Forty Percent Photography captured these beautiful images of a wedding that took place at the Bellamere Winery in London Ontario, Canada and a reception at The FireRock Golf Club. I know that you are counting down the days until you can throw on your bikini and soak in some warm rays, but harken back to the beauty of snowy months with me, as we feast our eyes on this romantic winter wedding! Thanks to Brianna and Ewan for sharing these lovely photos. For more of the wedding, click here.  [...]

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN IN THE WORLD – THE DAY…

He didn’t need to say a word. The look in his eyes said it all: “I’ve been waiting for this moment my entire life”.

As his best friend and soul mate walked towards him, his eyes welled up with tears and his heart skipped a beat. She was the most beautiful creature on the planet to him. She was his everything and on this day nothing else mattered but this very moment. She made everything right in the world. She was his world. And he would love her forever.

As she walked towards the man of her dreams, she thought of all the things they had to look forward to: their new home, their honeymoon and someday, children. She had been dreaming her entire life of the moment when he would lay eyes on her on their wedding day. It would be perfect.

She had searched every gown shop in the city for the perfect one. The very dress that she would be wearing when she married the man of her dreams. And when she found it she knew. She knew with everything she had that it was ‘the one’. And so it was, that the layers of lace and satin went home with her that day and would help her start her life with her new husband.

It’s said that the clothes make the man, but I believe that the wedding gown makes the bride! It doesn’t matter if it’s a simple white sun dress for a wedding on the beach, or layers and layers of chiffon and lace.  A wedding gown makes a bride feel like the most beautiful woman in the room. The country. The world. And she is. Nothing in the world can stop her in that dress.

Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be posting photos from great vendors that we had the pleasure to work with last season. Since so many couples get engaged over the holidays and the dress is one of the first things that brides start looking for, I thought this would be a fitting start. Nicholas and Elizabeth is one of our very favourite dress shops in London. It’s a family run business and Anna and John make every bride feel like they are the most important woman in the world (and you most definitely are!)  So, here are some of our favourite photos from 2008 of dresses, veils and accessories from Nicholas and Elizabeth. And by the way, the only thing I love more than wedding dresses is great wedding shoes, so keep an eye out for that post coming soon too.

- Brianna

91. I am the one who decorates our house.
92. I hate that Brianna folds the cover of books all the way over so that the book never sits closed again.
93. I am an angry sleeper. If you try to wake me up, I will yell at you and may try to hit you without knowing it.
94. I buy a new touque, scarf and gloves every winter even though my old ones are still in good shape.
95. I prefer air conditioning to having the windows open because I never had air conditioning growing up.

Rebecca - That was awesome- really funny. Steve is also an angry sleeper sometimes- no hitting, but he sleep shouts. Makes me laugh every time!

Sandra - #93 – You’re like my sister. She is not a morning person and that’s a big understatement. Thank you for sharing your 100.

Dominoe Imus - I visit a lot of photography websites, and yours is one of my favorites by far! Your photography is beautiful, and I love your company name. I found you through a comment you left on another photographer’s blog, though I can’t remember which one exactly, and have been a faithful follower ever since. I was so surprised to see that you were located in Canada, because your photography rivals that of the really great Bay Area photographers, and I just expected you to be in the same area! :)

We are located in Lake Tahoe, CA. We are branching out thise year to start doing weddings all over the world, and we hope to have success bringing our photography to some of the best brides and grooms ever. I look forward to reading about and seeing your beautiful photography in the 2009 year.

M&H - How funny is it that if you won the lottery you’d build a big equipment for adults to play on. We totally played that game as kids and if you touched the ground you were out.

Amelia :) - Hey Brianna and Ewan… I told you I wanted to get to know you better… and these lists have definitely helped me! I now know that I have to make cheesecake for desert when you come for dinner and that Ewans arteries are probably getting clogged from the sausage subs :)

Also, Brianna I love Iron Chef America… but I find that the iron chef always wins!?!?

P.S I totally love playing hide and seek!!!!

January 27, 2009 - 6:31 pm

Tiffany - I LOVE Californication too! One of my favorite.

January 27, 2009 - 6:23 pm

Brianna - Jim, sausage subs are the weirdest food ever, but Ewan loves them. You sautee onions and peppers and then put them in salsa. And you cook sausages, slice them and add them to the mix. Then you take sausage buns, put mozzarella cheese on both sides of the bun, put the mix inside the bun and put more cheese on top. Then you wrap them in tinfoil, put them in the oven and bake until the cheese is all gooey. Sound gross? Yup, I think so. But he loves them!

January 27, 2009 - 6:18 pm

Jim - What are sausage subs?
